Data Center Solution Engineer

The role of the Solution Engineer is to provide quality pre-sales technical support to the eStruxture sales organization. The Solution Engineer (SE) interacts with clients and supports sales reps and sales management. The SE qualifies sales opportunities, resolves all technical issues arising from the sales engagement, helps clients define specifications and requirements, and presents technical information to small and large audiences. The SE is also responsible for training sales reps on eStruxture products and solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to both internal sales reps and external customers
  • Attend sales and customer calls, over the phone and in-person
  • Develop technical responses and strategy for RFIs and RFPs
  • Administer technical training and guidance to sales reps and management
  • Provide customer advocacy for all post-sale implementation issues until resolved
  • Ensure correct technical content of all customer orders
  • Design customer technical solutions with engineering diagrams
  • Understand and convey technical advantages of eStruxture services
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Experience

  • 5+ years in the telecom industry or related field providing technical sales support
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Thorough understanding of the global data center, cloud, and telecommunications landscape
  • Fluent in French and English required
  • Self-starting, will take initiative and be able to work well in a team environment
  • Proven experience with managing multiple projects and opportunities simultaneously
  • Exemplary organizational skills and time management planning
  • Understanding of the sales cycle and the solution selling process
  • Proactive communication style ensuring timely status of projects to sales rep and customer
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to hear and understand specific customer requirements as they relate to Cogent products and services
  • Focus ambiguous customer needs into specific deliverable requirements
  • Extract hidden or unrealized customer requirements and gain consensus on these requirements
  • Creatively synthesize solutions, within the scope and limitations of eStruxture products and services, once all requirements have been discovered
